INDUSTRY VETERAN JON COMERFORD LAUNCHES NEW LIFE CASTING

Toronto-Based Team Brings a Unique Perspective to Casting in Canada

February 5, 2020. – Toronto, Ontario – It was announced today that Award Winning Casting Director Jon Comerford CSA, alongside Sara Dang and Lisa DeMeo, have launched their shingle New Life Casting. With over 30 years experience in the industry, Comerford has built his reputation as a sought-after and influential casting director with over 200 film, television, and stage credits. The trio will continue to work with some of the biggest names in the industry.

“This is a very exciting time in the industry,” says Comerford. “I’m thrilled to continue my long-standing collaboration with Sara Dang and Lisa DeMeo who inspire me with their creativity and dedication every day.”

Sara Dang has been working with Comerford for five years and was recently promoted to Casting Associate. With credits on productions such as CBC’s ​Diggstown ​and Shaw’s ​Ransom, ​Dang continues to prove herself as one of the most trusted names in the business.

After starting her career in commercial casting, Lisa DeMeo later shifted gears to become a Talent Agent, giving her the benefit of working both sides of the business. With more than ten years in the industry, DeMeo has found her passion in film and television casting.

Comerford’s impressive credits include television shows such as CTV’s ​Due South​, HBO’s ​Monk​, CBS’s ​Star Trek: Discovery​, HBO’s ​Call Me Fitz,​ and ABC’s ​Combat Hospital.​ Jon is also proud to have worked on Shaw’s ​Bomb Girls and CTV’s ​Cardinal, ​both of which won him Best Casting honours at the Canadian Screen Awards. He has recently completed work on the sixth and final season of the multi-Emmy nominated series from CBC, ​Schitt’s Creek​. On the big screen, his work can be seen in RARE BIRDS, UNLESS, and SEVEN TIMES LUCKY, among others. Comerford has also lent his exquisite eye for finding and shaping talent to the stage, most notably when he worked side-by-side with The Who’s Pete Townshend on the 1995 Toronto production of “Tommy”. Together they assembled a completely new cast made up entirely of Canadian performers. Jon currently lives in Toronto.
